Battery and wiring harnessas in the past, all new xc-f engines are fitted with the proven electric starter - a unique ktm feature and a major benefit at all levels of motocross racing. For my 2017 the xc-f range fits a super compact and lightweight lithium-ion starter battery, providing safe starting of the engine while reducing the weight significantly. Brakeshigh-tech brembo brakes have always been standard equipment on ktm off-road bikes, and combined with the lightweight galfer wave discs, they are the ultimate solution in braking technology. Framethe new frame design provides approximately 20 % higher torsional rigidity and 30 % less longitudinal stiffness, with newly designed engine stays for less vibration. This increased flexibility results in better absorption of the energy created from the front and rear wheel loads supporting the suspension for more comfort and less rider fatigue. A 0. 4° steeper steering angle and a 10 mm shorter wheel base contribute to better handling, and last but not least it´s lighter than the previous model. Graphicsnew modern in-mold graphics highlight the ready to race character of the cutting-edge 2017 xc-f range of bikes. Handlebarthe new generation xc-f models are equipped with a new tapered handlebar made of high-strength aluminum by neken, which is fixed in a new rubber damped handlebar clamp allowing the handlebar to be mounted in two different positions. All 4-stroke models feature a new throttle assembly with model-specific throttle cams for different opening characteristics and new odi grips featuring lock-on fixing clamp on the left-hand side. Footpega new sophisticated "no-dirt" footpeg solution prevents dirt from blocking the pegs in order to keep them in the correct position, even when dragging in deep ruts. In addition, the new footpegs are larger, lighter and more stable, providing better grip.

Newly designed engine covers made of magnesium feature an advanced surface structure in order to reduce the wear caused by the rider's boots. Engine management systemthe completely reworked keihin engine management system, with electronic fuel injection, features an all-new 44 mm throttle body, which provides instantaneous response and maximum performance thanks to a revolutionary injector position. It is fitted with a spring on both sides but features separated functions for each fork leg: compression damping is fitted on the left side, while rebound is on the right. So the forks can easily be adjusted for compression and rebound with the twist of a dial on the top of the forks. In addition, a longer and sealed hydro-stop guarantees better resistance to bottoming-out. Due to high-quality materials and a state-of-the-art production process, the new xplor 48 fork - with approx. 300mm of travel - has outstanding response and damping characteristics and is about a half of a pound lighter than its predecessor. Engine management systemthe state-of-the-art keihin engine management system with electronic fuel injection features an all-new 42mm throttle body. Thanks to its unique injector position, the engine’s response gives a whole new meaning to the word ‘instantaneous’. Push the throttle back when the engine’s alive and well, and the cold start mode disengages. A bonus mapping via the map select switch on the handlebar, brings even more ferocity to the game. Framethe high-tech, lightweight chrome-moly steel frame is engineered for excellent handling, precise cornering and supreme stability. In short: more comfort and less rider fatigue. Laterally attached, lightweight engine head stays contribute to a reduced vibration level. Two threaded inserts in the lower cradle tubes allow for an optional skid plate. The engineers were able to pull off all that, while making the frame two pounds lighter than that of the lightest competitor on the market. In addition, the frame is easier to maintain, easier to work on and supplies more space for the tank and other components. The bike also features an extra-light aluminum subframe, which weighs in at less than 2 pounds. The orange coating truly makes it stand out; precisely what an engineering masterpiece like this deserves. High-tech brembo calipers are combined with lightweight wave discs and feature a reduced piston diameter for better modulation. The rear brake now features a 10mm longer brake pedal, and less aggressive brake pads are fitted front and rear. The steel-flex front brake hose gets more efficient protection and there’s an integrated channel for the speedo cable. Triple clampsthe new generation is fitted with cnc machined, orange anodized triple clamps with an offset of 22mm, ensuring a solid grip of the fork and precise handling.
