For my 2016 the 300 xc features detail improvements and new colors and graphics, but basically retains the same chassis and engine specification as my 2015. The power character can be changed within a few seconds thanks to two supplied springs for different tracks and rider preference. Clutchthe ktm dds (damped diaphragm steel) clutch is fitted with a diaphragm spring, which allows implementation of an internal rubber damping system. Linkage/shockabsorberthe linkage system of the 300 xc features a progressive curve with a high initial rate ensuring good stability. The high-end wp 5018 shock absorber guarantees outstanding response and damping characteristics. Compression and rebound damping can be adjusted to the track conditions and the rider's preferences. Handlebarthe 300 xc is equipped with a tapered handlebar made of high-strength aluminum by neken, which is fixed in a new rubber damped handlebar clamp allowing the handlebar to be mounted in two different positions. A new, larger handlebar pad protects the rider in case of a crash. Airboxat the same time, the design of the airbox guarantees optimum protection of the air filter from dirt plus maximum airflow for the highest performance. Quick replacement of the twin air filter, without tools and in a matter of seconds, has long been an unrivalled ktm standard. Brakeshigh-tech brembo brakes have always been standard equipment on ktm off-road bikes, and now are combined with newly designed and weight-reduced wave discs made by galfer featuring improved heat resistance. Weight reduction is 63g on the front disc, and 32 g for the rear. This is the ultimate solution in braking technology. This is a serious piece of kit. Bodyworkktm r&d, kiska design and the factory racers had their say in shaping the plastics with one goal: complete harmony between rider and bike. Perfect ergonomics and contact points provide maximum comfort in movement on the xc-w. The i-beam structures of the front and rear fenders guarantee maximum stability and a low weight thanks to well thought-out construction and mounting. They also stay cleaner for longer. Cleaver brake hose routing on the front number plate prevents wear and tear. Graphicsnew graphics convey the true ready to race character of the 2017 xc-w model line. The new, large twin air filter is mounted in a stiff cage, which at the same time holds the system in place. Fuel tankthe lightweight polyethylene tank has a capacity of 2. 5 gallons. In 2016 the isde (international six days enduro) will be held in navarra, spain and the ktm model line-up has been suitably equipped to handle anything the dusty and rocky terrain can throw at it. Features may include:front suspensionthe all-new wp xplor 48 upside-down fork is a split fork developed by wp in close collaboration with ktm. It is fitted with a spring on both sides but features separated functions for each fork leg: compression damping is fitted on the left side, while rebound is on the right. So the forks can easily be adjusted for compression and rebound with the twist of a dial on the top of the forks. In addition, a longer and sealed hydro-stop guarantees better resistance to bottoming-out. Due to high-quality materials and a state-of-the-art production process, the new xplor 48 fork - with approx. 300mm of travel - has outstanding response and damping characteristics and is about a half of a pound lighter than its predecessor. Engine management systemthe state-of-the-art keihin engine management system with electronic fuel injection features an all-new 42mm throttle body. Thanks to its unique injector position, the engine’s response gives a whole new meaning to the word ‘instantaneous’. Push the throttle back when the engine’s alive and well, and the cold start mode disengages. A bonus mapping via the map select switch on the handlebar, brings even more ferocity to the game. Triple clampsthe new generation is fitted with cnc machined, orange anodized triple clamps with an offset of 22mm, ensuring a solid grip of the fork and precise handling. High-tech brembo calipers are combined with lightweight wave discs and feature a reduced piston diameter for better modulation. The rear brake now features a 10mm longer brake pedal, and less aggressive brake pads are fitted front and rear. The steel-flex front brake hose gets more efficient protection and there’s an integrated channel for the speedo cable.
