In a class of its ownwith the agility of a 125 and enough muscle to take the fight to the 250cc 4-strokes, this bike punches well above its weight. Its snarling engine sets benchmarks in terms of power and torque, rocketing its state-of-the-art chassis miles ahead of the competition. The top step of the podium does have the unmistakable scent of 2-stroke premix exhaust. Features may include:featherweightthe main target for the ktm engineers when developing the sx models was a massive weight reduction compared to the previous generation. The result: the current sx models are the slimmest, lightest bikes on the track. The large twin-air filter is mounted in a stiff cage, which at the same time holds the system in place. Framethe high-tech, lightweight chrome-moly steel frame is engineered for excellent handling, precise cornering and supreme stability. In short: more comfort and less rider fatigue. Laterally attached, lightweight engine head stays contribute to a reduced vibration level. The engineers were able to pull off all that, while making the frame two pounds lighter than that of the lightest competitor on the market. In addition, the frame is easier to maintain, easier to work on and supplies more space for the tank and other components. The bike also features an extra-light aluminum subframe, which weighs in at less than 2 pounds. Footpegssophisticated ´no dirt´ footpegs prevent clogging of the footpeg pivot, even when digging in deep ruts. Then just mount the footpegs of the my2017 exc models, which are 6mm higher than the sx versions. The single-component casting process eliminates any inconsistencies and inherent weak points created by welding. It’s better looking as well. Fuel tanka lightweight polyethylene tank has a capacity of 1. 85 gallons. The filler cap has an inside thread, which makes for easy and reliable closure. Handlebarktm engineers sure know how to handle handlebars. This tapered one, made of high-strength aluminum by neken, is fixed in damped rubber mounts and has two different positions. From 2017 onwards, the lower handlebar clamps are separated, while on the upper side a new bridge-type clamp guarantees more torsional stiffness. It’s also easier to replace the bar in case it gets twisted in a nasty crash. Odi lock-on grips make grip changes easy which does not require any wire or glue to be secured. For 2017, a new cover gives its riders even more grip with better feel. Wheelsfeaturing lightweight, cnc machined hubs and high-end excel rims, they guarantee maximum stability and minimal unsprung weight. The wheels are shod with the latest dunlop geomax mx 3s tires. Cooling systemktm’s proven cooling system routes the coolant from the cylinder head through the frame triangle, directly to aluminum radiators made by wp. A new filler cap system and are stiffer alloy construction increase the durability and reliability of the cooling system. Due to flow optimized internal circulation and cfd-calculated air ventilation, the system is superbly efficient. In addition, well thought-out radiator guards integrated in the front part of the shrouds provide protection in a crash.

For my 2017 the 300 xc features detail improvements and new colors and graphics, but basically retains the same chassis and engine specification as my 2016. The power character can be changed within a few seconds thanks to two supplied springs for different tracks and rider preference. Clutchthe ktm dds (damped diaphragm steel) clutch is fitted with a diaphragm spring, which allows implementation of an internal rubber damping system. Carburetorthe 300 xc is fitted with a proven mikuni tmx 38 carburetor producing the perfect air-fuel mixture. For extreme temperature or altitude the setting can be tuned with supplied jets and needles according to a setting list in the manual. Enginethe powerful ktm 300 sx engine unites an unbeatable power-to-weight ratio with outstanding performance and extremely easy handling. Framethe modern frame design of the 300 xc, comprised of lightweight, high strength, chrome-molybdenum steel section tubes, combines maximum longitudinal stiffness with optimum torsional stiffness. Linkage/shockabsorberthe linkage system of the 300 xc features a progressive curve with a high initial rate ensuring good stability. The high-end wp 5018 shock absorber guarantees outstanding response and damping characteristics. Compression and rebound damping can be adjusted to the track conditions and the rider's preferences. Forkthe xc model range features the 48mm wp aer 48 fork. The setting has been specifically developed for racing cross-country in the us. The forks can be easily adjusted for compression and rebound via the dials on the top of the fork tubes. Triple clampstop quality, cnc-machined triple clamps have been something of a ktm trademark for years. Ensuring precise handling, they provide proper clamping force for correct flex characteristics, thus improving the action of the forks. For 2017 the upper triple clamp features a newly developed rubber damping system for the handlebar clamp in order to reduce the vibration levels felt through the handlebar. The clamps retain their forward and back adjustability for rider preference. Graphicsnew modern in-mold graphics highlight the ready to race character of the cutting-edge 2017 xc range of bikes. Bodyworkktm engineers have focused on designing the bodywork ergonomically and functionally in such a way that the whole motorcycle is in perfect harmony with the rider down to the very last detail. The front fender is a perfect example of how molded plastic components can gain maximum stability with a well thought out structure. Seatthe ergonomically perfect seat is equipped with a durable foam core, ensuring both greater comfort and higher stability. Airboxat the same time, the design of the airbox guarantees optimum protection of the air filter from dirt plus maximum airflow for the highest performance. The reworked engine guarantees an improved power curve over the entire rev range up to 14,000 rpm, which makes the new 250 xc-f a winner for both amateur and professional riders. Cylinder headthe centerpiece of the compact dohc (double overhead camshaft) engine is the new cutting-edge cylinder head. It features improved combustion chamber geometry, two 150 g lighter overhead camshafts with new timing, plus a friction-optimized super-fine surface, new finger followers with a 30 % harder dlc coating and a reworked timing drive (friction reduced and shorter did timing chain, new sprockets and chain guides). Cylinder & pistonin the reworked and shorter cylinder that has a bore of 78 mm, is a weight-reduced, forged bridged box-type piston made by cp. It features a unique piston shape adapted to the new combustion chamber and stands out with its extra-rigid structure, combined with a low weight. The compression ratio is at 14. 4:1. Counter balancer shaftin order to balance the mass-forces, the new 250 xc-f engine uses a multifunctional counter balance shaft that also drives the water pump and timing chain. It features new sprockets fitted to the new timing chain. Electric starterthe new 250 xc-f is fitted with an electric starter as standard, which a clear advantage in the heat of battle. A new starter motor made by mitsuba (modified for easy disassembly) and a weight-reduced starter drive guarantees more efficient and reliable starting.
